General Clinical Research Center Advisory Committee
The GCRC Advisory Committee (GAC) is responsible for scientifically reviewing each study proposed for GCRC support. The GAC is comprised of senior investigators from the OUHSC, OUHSC-Tulsa and OU-Norman campuses with experience in peer-reviewed, funded clinical research. At least two GAC members write reviews of each proposed study and present those for discussion at the monthly GAC meetings. In addition, each proposal also is reviewed by the GCRC biostatistician and the research safety advisor, as well as other GCRC staff as appropriate. The GAC votes a scientific score for each protocol (similar to the NIH scoring of grant proposals) as well as a priority score based on demonstrated need for GCRC support. Those scores are used by the GCRC staff to determine eligibility of a study for GCRC assistance. The GAC also advises the Program Director about the overall management of the GCRC.
